All About HotRod Rockets
As seen on TV
My Rocketering history started in the mid 1970's.  I was active in the hobby for a few
years, and then I just sort of went on to other things.
Five years ago Santa brought a rocket kit for my daughter.  I was quickly hooked again.

    Modeling History
I began building models of all types as a youngster.  At the age of 21 I got my first
professional job building models.  Now 22 years later I have been a prototype modeler
for three large model railroad manufacturers, worked on one feature film, and
contracted for many avid model railroaders private projects.

    Product development
My other passion is motor sports.  Currently running a two-car team in NHRA and IHRA
Drag racing at a regional level.  I am one of the owners and builders of the Hot Rod
Lincoln.  As a result I have developed several Drag Racing related automotive parts.
That's what happens when you race a car that was never designed to go that fast, like
    a Lincoln!

Producing kits for the model rocketry hobby.
    Why?
When I got back into the hobby I was somewhat less than impressed with some of the mass-
market offerings.  Rocket kits that include poor quality parts or don't perform the way they
should.....  I knew I could do better.

    What does impress me?
The array of smaller kit manufacturers that can produce interesting kits with high quality
    parts.

    The HotRods
    Test, Research, Simulate, FLY!
I extensively flight test all designs before releasing them in kit form.
I test some designs to destruction in order to provide the best possible kits from the highest
    quality components.

The HotRod Shop includes a "recovery test stand" that enables me to pressure test designs
    for more reliable deployment.
I also have an Air Cannon set up to test survivability of my designs.   Why go to all the
    trouble?
I want rockets that perform as good as they possibly can.
These are classic, craftsman style kits.
They require some time and skill to build.
But the results are well worth the effort.

I want to provide the best value in all my rocket designs.
I use only high quality parts.

    Top quality components include:
    - Quality Body tubes
    -Balsa nose cones and transitions.
-Mylar or Plastic Streamers and  the highest quality Plastic Parachute kits.
    -Kevlar or Steel  Recovery Cords.
    - Swivels
    - Proper nose weights when needed.

    Flight Notes:
I actually Fly Rockets. (I know, what a concept.)
As I find better methods or come up with new
    tips and tricks,
I will add them to each kit's main page.
This way Rocketeers can have the latest
    information for best results.
Yes I'm the same guy!
