| Build notes: HotRod Kits Why I don't Like "Motor Hooks"? You are all familiar with the flexible metal motor hooks used in so many mass market model rocket kits...right? Typically you will not find them in HotRod Kits. I prefer "Tape Retention" for low power rocketry (A-D power) model rockets. And Positive retention on Mid-power Rockets. The Problem? The Motor hooks, so common in mass market kits, tend to rip into the motor tubes, centering rings and sometimes the main body tubes over time. I always design HotRod Kits with the intention of being launched multiple times. Motor hooks shorten the life of your rocket. So I tend not to use them. |
